Antique Character Toys

As soon as children's radio shows started to gain in popularity in the early 1900's, children everywhere wanted to have a souvenir or toy, so they could now see exactly what their favorite radio start looked like.

Then when television was created and children got a glimpse of cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, or Popeye, they had to have toys of all different kinds that they could play with at home.  It simply wasn't enough anymore to just watch or listen to their favorite stars - they wanted to play with them at home.  This created a large industry of toy making with early companies like Fisher-Price and Louis Marx leading the way.
