Shirley Temple was a young American actress that won the hearts of many in the 1930's. Shirley Jane Temple was born in Santa Monica, California and soon became the top grossing movie star during the Great Depression. Shirley Temple excelled at dancing and was often given roles that required extensive choreography experience, but she was up for the task. With the help of an African-American dance coach, which was controversial at the time, Shirley Temple was able to learn very complex dance steps and sing at the same time.
